Three inputs. What you type is not sent to a server, and no email is needed.

Goal for the next 90 days

You get the nine-section plan with the questions for this account. Salesmotion can fill it from public sources.

Which Sections Salesmotion Fills

The generator gives you the structure and the questions. Most of the hours in an account plan go into the research behind sections 1 to 6. Salesmotion's Research Agent does that research from 1,000+ public sources (filings, earnings calls, news, job posts), with a source and date on every fact, and the Signal Agent watches the account so you know when the plan needs a review. Some sections stay yours, because only the deal team knows them.

The Account Plan Template: Nine Sections

The sections follow the same order as our free Excel account plan template. The order matters: the account's stated priorities (section 2) come before anything about you.

How to Use the Account Plan

  1. Pick the account. Full plans for 5 to 10 Tier 1 accounts per rep. Score the rest with an ICP rubric and monitor them instead.
  2. Fill sections 1 and 2 first, with sources. Quote leadership from the last earnings call or annual report, with the date. Every objective later ties back to it.
  3. Write “unknown” instead of guessing. An unknown economic buyer is a red flag and becomes objective one, not a blank cell.
  4. Set two or three objectives with a number and a date. More is a wish list. The generator suggests three for your goal.
  5. Decide the review triggers. Section 9 lists the signals that force an update between quarterly reviews. If you run Miller Heiman, the stakeholder map is the Blue Sheet buying-influences grid.

For a filled example, read the account planning guide: it walks through a strategic plan for Snowflake built from its public filings. For large accounts with several business units, see enterprise account planning, and to keep plans inside the CRM, see account planning in Salesforce. In Claude or ChatGPT, the Salesmotion connector builds the plan with the account_plan skill.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an account plan?
An account plan is a short document that says how you will win, grow or keep one important account over the next 90 to 180 days. It covers who the account is, what its leadership has committed to in public, who decides, where you are strong and exposed, where the whitespace is, the competition, two or three measurable objectives, the actions that serve them, and the risks.
What should an account plan template include?
Nine sections, in this order: account overview, their strategic priorities (quoted, with source and date), stakeholder map, SWOT for your position, whitespace and value hypothesis, competitive landscape, objectives for the next 90 days, action plan, and risks with the signals that force a review. Every fact carries a source and a date.
Is the account plan generator free?
Yes. The generator and the Excel account plan template are free, with no email and no signup. The generator runs in your browser: the domain and product you type are not sent to a server.
How is the generator different from the Excel template?
The Excel template is the blank nine-section plan with dropdowns and a worked Snowflake example. The generator builds the same plan for one named account: the company name, what you sell and your 90-day goal are written into the questions, with suggested objectives for landing, expanding or renewing. You can copy it as Markdown, download it, or open the Excel version.
Can AI fill in an account plan automatically?
Partly. Salesmotion's Research Agent fills the account overview and the strategic priorities from public sources such as filings, earnings calls and news, with a source on every fact, and drafts the stakeholder map, SWOT, whitespace, competitive context and outreach for you to confirm. The Signal Agent watches the account for the events that should trigger a review; the risks and open questions stay with you. Objectives stay with the deal team. The Individual plan is $85/mo on a monthly contract.
How many accounts should get a full account plan?
Five to ten Tier 1 accounts per rep. Plan few accounts deeply and monitor the rest for signals instead of writing a plan for each one.
How often should an account plan be updated?
Review it every 90 days, and also when something changes at the account: a new executive in the team you sell to, an earnings call that names an initiative you support, a hiring surge, the budget cycle, or a cost programme. Decide those triggers in section 9 when you write the plan.
What is the difference between account planning and an account plan?
Account planning is the process: choosing the accounts, researching them, mapping stakeholders, setting objectives and reviewing progress every quarter. The account plan is the document that process produces for one account. The account planning guide covers the process; this page builds the document.
