Sign in with Salesmotion: Connecting Each Person to Claude

Last updated 2026-10-21

Each person connects with their own Salesmotion login. An admin adds the connector once for the workspace. Every member then clicks Sign in with Salesmotion, logs in with their own Salesmotion account, and approves. Nobody types, copies, or shares an API key.

How it works for your team

Admin, once

In Claude, go to Admin settings → Connectors and add a custom connector with the URL https://mcp.salesmotion.io. This makes Salesmotion available to everyone in the workspace. There is nothing else to set up and nothing to hand out.

Each person, once

  1. In Claude, open Settings → Connectors, find Salesmotion, and click Connect.
  2. A Salesmotion window opens. Click Sign in with Salesmotion.
  3. Log in with your Salesmotion email and password, or with Google, the same way you log in to app.salesmotion.io. If you are already logged in, this step is skipped.
  4. Review the consent page. It shows which app is asking (Claude), the account you are signed in as, and what the app can do. Click Allow and connect.
  5. The window closes and Claude is connected as you.

Then enable Salesmotion in a chat and ask - "brief me on Honeywell", "show me Bayer", "who decides at Hitachi". See Using Salesmotion skills in Claude.

  • Who is asking. The app requesting access, such as Claude.
  • Who you are signed in as. Your email and organization, with a link to switch accounts.
  • What it can do. Read your Salesmotion accounts, signals, and contacts as you, using your organization's API quota. It cannot change data in Salesmotion.
  • How to disconnect. Approving creates a personal connection named after the app, such as Claude connector, which you can delete at any time.

Reviewing and revoking access

Every connection belongs to one person and shows up in Salesmotion under Settings → API:

  • Members see their own connections there and can delete them. Deleting one disconnects that app on its next request.
  • Admins see every connection in the organization, with the person it belongs to, when it was created, and when it was last used, and can delete any of them.
  • When someone leaves, disabling or removing their user in Salesmotion cuts off their connections on the next request. Nobody else is affected, and there is no shared key to rotate.

Because each connection belongs to one person, everything the connector does is attributed to them, and it stops working as soon as their Salesmotion access is disabled.

For security reviews

  • Credentials. Members authenticate with their own Salesmotion login on app.salesmotion.io. Claude never sees their password.
  • Protocol. The connector uses the standard OAuth 2.1 authorization-code flow with PKCE (S256), the flow Claude and ChatGPT use for custom connectors.
  • Where codes go. Salesmotion only returns sign-in codes to the registered callbacks of supported apps, such as Claude and local apps like Claude Code, so a sign-in link cannot be redirected elsewhere.
  • Consent page protection. The consent page cannot be embedded in another website, and approval always requires a click by the signed-in person.
  • Network. The connector is reached over outbound HTTPS at mcp.salesmotion.io, and the sign-in window opens app.salesmotion.io. Nothing to install, no inbound connections.

Frequently asked questions

Do members need an API key?

No. Signing in creates the connection for them. API keys are still available under Settings → API for scripts and clients configured with a key, such as Claude Code or Claude Desktop config files - see MCP integration.

The connector uses the Salesmotion API, which is enabled per organization. Ask your Salesmotion admin, or email support@salesmotion.io.

Can we still use one shared key for the whole team?

Yes, for teams that prefer it. See Connecting your team with a shared key. Signing in is the better fit when each person should connect as themselves.

Someone connected the wrong account

Have them delete the connection under Settings → API, then connect again from Claude and use Not you? on the consent page to switch accounts.
